McCormick Property Development (MPD) has been awarded one of the highest accolades in the Property industry at the Africa and Arabia International Property Awards Summit. Held at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Dubai, MPD was awarded a 5 star award in the retail development category for the Mall de Moçambique Development in Matola.

The Africa & Arabia Property Awards are part of the International Property Awards – the world’s largest, most prestigious, and widely recognised programme. Worldwide, the 2015 International Property Awards received more than 2000 entries from over 110 countries.

The Awards are open to residential and commercial property professionals from around the globe and celebrate the highest levels of achievement by companies operating in the four main sectors of the property and real estate industry – development, architecture, interior design and real estate.

“We are incredibly proud of this achievement,” explains MD of MPD, Jason McCormick. “Our journey into Africa has been a long time in the making and we have a strong pipeline of developments that can only grow from strength to strength. The Mall de Moçambique will be our first true Regional Mall in Africa (outside South Africa) and as such we aim create a state of the art retail facility to cater to the shopping needs of the people of Matola and surrounds, whilst setting the benchmark for further developments in Mozambique and the rest of Africa.”

The International Property Award is the second such award received by MPD in 2015. The company was also named the most socially responsible developer in the 2015 World Finance Real Estate Awards.

“The McCormick Family are ardent, active conservationists and this conservation ethos has been carried across into every aspect of the development and management of our shopping centres over the past 3 decades. Environmentally-sensitive development models and the sustainability of services have always been and remain a priority in our company. It is an honour to have these ideals acknowledged on an international forum and it is a key motivator for us to continue the hard work we are doing,” concluded McCormick.
